88 year old Virginia Elberta Christian of Woodbury, and formerly of California, died Tuesday at NHC Healthcare of Smithville. She was a housewife and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Wyatte Christian; one son, Dayle Christian; a daughter, Gayle Gottschall; her parents, Albert Ray and Josaphine Fullington Roberts, and brothers and sisters. The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at her daughter’s home in Woodbury. Also, there will be a memorial service with burial of the remains in the Memorial Gardens in Napa Valley, California, at a later date. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and William “Shorty” Kellerman of Woodbury. One son, Darold Christian of Bakersfield, CA. Nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and eighteen great-great grandchildren also survive along with one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Russ Beasley of Richmond, Missouri. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
