Virginia Rhodes Brown

97 year old Virginia Rhodes Brown of Alexandria died Tuesday at NHC Healthcare, Smithville. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the West Main Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the West Main Baptist Church. Thurman Seber and Dusty Desimone will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and Friday from noon until the funeral at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents; William “Bill” Oakley and Etta Oakley; her husband, Walter Brown; a brother, Ben Oakley; and sisters, Margie and Lena Mae Oakley. She is survived by two sons, Jack and wife Mary Jane Brown and Jim and wife Darnelle Brown all of Liberty. Grandchildren, Stephen and Amanda Brown, Mark and Galen Brown, Bradley and Cassie Brown, Jason and Jennifer Brown, and Jeanna and Tracy Caplinger. Eleven great grandchildren survive. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Mount Zion Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice in her memory. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.
