83 year old Virgle Seborn Cantrell of Smithville died Saturday at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a carpenter and mason worker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount View Primitive Baptist Church, where he was a member and served as a deacon since 1961. He and his brothers built the church building in 1971. Elder Paul Violet and Elder Ricky Arnold will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at which time the body will be taken to the church for the service. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents, Zollie and Viola Adcock Cantrell; brothers, Gentry Edward, Ernest Cliff, and John Thomas Cantrell, Sr,; and a sister, Jackie Gay. He is survived by his wife of 61 1/2 years, Louise Cantrell of Smithville. A son, Dana Cantrell of Smithville. A foster daughter, Doris Cantrell and husband Steve Cantrell of Smithville. A granddaughter, Arian Cantrell of Kentucky. Brothers, Glynn A. Cantrell of Smithville and Zollie D. Cantrell of Knoxville. Sisters, Lillian and husband Brownie Tittsworth of Smithville, Lois and husband J.E. Gay, and Judy and husband Ronnie Cantrell all of McMinnville. Numerous nieces and nephews survive. The family asks that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.
