82 year old Wallace Ray Blackford of Smithville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was retired from Rath Meat Packing Company, a Baptist, and a veteran of World War II. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Ralph Benningfield will officiate and burial will be in the Blackford Cemetery. Visitation wil be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Wenger Blackford; his parents, Aubrey and Daisy Coin Blackford; his step-mother, Frances Blackford; and a brother, Lawrence Blackford. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Reeder; four sons, Steve and Doug Blackford, Dennis and his wife Shirley Blackford all of Smithville, and John and his wife Janis Blackford of Wisconsin. Five granddaughters, Charlotte Myers, Wendy Blackford, and Barbara Blackford all of Smithville, Tina Rutledge of McMinnville, and Joy Blackford of Wisconsin. Five grandsons, Jeremy, Jeff and Jason Blackford all of Wisconsin, Bobby Blackford and Michael Reeder of Smithville. One sister, Jane Cain of Texas.
