69 year old Wayne Vanderpool of Smithville died Friday at VA Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was affiliated with the Smithville Church of God. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and a member of the Tennessee Constable Association, as well as a retired school teacher, auto mechanic, and constable for the third district of DeKalb County. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bill Robertson and Jeff Armstrong will officiate with burial in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Algie Lee and Dora Kay Vanderpool, and infant brother James David Vanderpool. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda Puckett Vanderpool of Smithville; children, Wayne Reed Vanderpool and Julia Cantrell, and Melissa and Philip Wallace, all of Smithville. Grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth, Harper Lee and William Alton Wallace; sisters, Wanda and Ray,Jr. Dunham of Smithville; Lorraine Webb of Donelson; brother, Rodney and Phyllis Vanderpool of Centertown; brother-in-law, Darwin and Delores Puckett of Lebanon. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
