85 year old Wilburn Looney of the Johnson’s Chapel Community died Thursday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3-8 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Looney was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church at Johnson’s Chapel and was Superintendent of Bridge Builder, Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Houston and Callie Armenta Jackson Looney. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Looney of Sparta. Two sons, Dale and Talitha Looney of Sparta and Donald and Angie Looney of Smithville. One daughter, Gail and Danny Young of McMinnville. Six grandchildren, Katelyn Looney of Sparta, Jordan and Scarlett Looney of Colorado, Brooklyn and Aaron Shirah of Smithville, Heather and Adam Poole of McMinnville, Misty Shehane of Smithville, and Josh and Stephanie Young of McMinnville. Seven great grandchildren. One sister, Getav Griffin of Smithville and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Retired Home Senior Care in Sparta, DeKalb Community Hospital, and Dr. Kevin Rhody. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
