82 year old William Hale, Jr of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a farmer and a member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. David Carden will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Ervin Hale; his father, William Overton Hale Sr.; sisters, Hallie Cassity, Prudie Pinegar, Julie Gregory, Ruby Ledox, Ruth Walls, and Barbara Billings.; and brothers, Charlie and Howard Hale. Survivors include his wife, Opal Hale of Smithville; sisters, Evelyn Taylor and Martha Bloom of Smithville; special hunting friends Jake Helem, Keith Kanard, and Herbie and Matthew Leftwich; and several nieces and nephews. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Mount Herman Baptist Church.
