70 year old Willie “Jay” Thomas of Dowelltown died Sunday at NHC of Smithville. He was a farmer and a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Ada Martin Thomas; two brothers, Willie Eugene Thomas and James E. Thomas; and a sister, Bertha Bennett. Survivors include three brothers, Joe Thomason of Sweetwater and Alfred and Willie Thomas both of Smithville. Three sisters, Retha Frazier of Woodbury, Minnie Murphy of Smithville, and Lou Verna Woodruff of West Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
