Wilodean “Mama Dean” Turner age 80 of Smithville, passed away Saturday morning, August 19, 2017 at NHC HealthCare Center in Sparta. She was born January 8, 1937 to her parents, the late Calvin and Vergie Hubbard Blair. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Judy Thomason; grandson, Michael Bly; brother, Eugene Blair and sister, Brenda Colgan. She was a member of In Christ United Church and a retired factory worker, having worked at Texas Boot and Genesco. Mama Dean is survived by 1 daughter, Rita (Richard) Franklin of Smithville; 5 grandchildren, Chris (Jamie) Franklin, Stacey Robinson (Jeremy Bilbrey), Stephanie (Kenny) Murphy, Steven (Christy) Bly and Brian (Kayla) Bly; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 1 brother, Paul (Gail) Blair of Smithville; 4 nieces and nephews, and special friend, Glenda Stanley. Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Wednesday, August 23 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Richard Franklin officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday 10 AM until 8 PM and Wednesday 9 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
