A 38 year old Woodbury man was airlifted after he crashed his car on Highway 83 (New Home Road) Sunday afternoon.
Trooper Dewaine Jennings of the Tennessee Highway Patrol told WJLE that Jack Christopher Surguy was driving south on Highway 83 in a 1991 Olds Cutlas when he went off the right side of the road, entered a ditchline, struck a culvert, and then crossed over a driveway. The car came to rest in the ditch on the other side of the driveway.
Surguy was treated at the scene by DeKalb EMS and then taken to a helicopter landing zone set up in a field nearby. He was airlifted by Lifeflight and flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office and DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department were also on the scene.
